Gabrielle recently commenced as the Program Manager for Cancer & Immunology, and has come to this position from the SESLHD, as the Cancer Stream Manager, with a portfolio that included BreastScreen, Palliative Care, Clinical Cancer registry staff, the Adolescent & Young Adult Cancer program and others. Her focus areas for the C&I Program and The Kinghorn Cancer Centre will be around engaging consumers, innovative models of care, progressing the ethos of translational research and exploring the progression of nursing roles.

She has had a distinguished health services career spanning public, private and non-profit sectors. She was a founding Board member, then state manager of the Leukaemia Foundation of NSW. Past roles have included Director of Nursing/Business Manager at the Darlinghurst Skin & Cancer Foundation (preparing to move to a new building and upgrade to day surgery status) and Director at the College of Nursing (now the Australian College of Nursing), returning there after a role as post-grad course coordinator/lecturer in the 90s.

Gabrielle has served on/with several professional associations and state/national committees, including Cancer Australia, the Cancer Institute of NSW, the Cancer Council NSW, the Clinical Oncology Society of Australia and as President of the Cancer Nursing Society of Australia, another organisation that she had a role in helping to establish in 1998. She has published and presented papers at international and national meetings and was also appointed to the Board of the Cancer Patients Foundation, which supports the Look Good…Feel Better support program.

Gabrielle attained a Master’s Degree in Public Health from the UNSW and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

These are exciting times for health professional in cancer care and it is wonderful to have such a great setting as TKCC for delivering cancer services and finding new ways to work much more closely with colleagues in research.
